Lifetime achievement for Harry from the Royal Netherlands Yachtclub KNZ&RV!

Last Saturday the Royal Netherlands Yacht Club (KNZ&RV) honored  Harry with a Lifetime achievement award for all his achievements with WINSOME in the last 25+ years.

This price, the ‘Halve Maen’ award, is a beautiful silver full model of the old VOC sailing vessel ‘Halve Maen’ (‘Half Moon’) and was last awarded to King Harold of Norway in 1912.

The ceremony took place at the yearly gala dinner of the KNZ&RV. At the ceremony some of the many many achievements and successes of Harry with WINSOME in the last 25+ years were mentioned e.g. 1st place in class in Sydney Hobart Race, Fastnet Race, in many Channel Races, Round the Island Races, Cowes Weeks, Cervantes Races, Guigand Bowl Races, Round Britain & Ireland Race etc etc etc.

For this occasion several (former) WINSOME crew members that are also member of the KNZ&RV attended the ceremony: Frank van Beuningen, Paul Glazener, Boj Mirck, Joost Dantuma, Floris Oud and Dirk-Jan Zweers.

In his acceptance speech Harry (polite as we know him) mentioned that he likes to see the award to be not only for him, but for WINSOME and all her crew including himself.

Harry, on behalf of all the crew members of WINSOME in the more then 25 years of racing with you: many congratulations with this well deserved lifetime achievement award and thank you for bringing us all along with you on your WINSOME adventure.
