Flight AER005 Natal-Bahia de Salvador
November 14, 2011
Today a short flight of just over two hours. Good training for me with many changes of the approaches, another VNAV approach and IMC at the end of the flight.
our flightplan from NATAL – SALVADOR
Some sight seeing in Pelourinho Salavor, where we stayed in The Pestana Convento Do Carmo, built in 1586, probably once a monastry.
During our sightseeing we walked to the marina of Salvador. I observed a lot of sailboats having participated in the Mini-Transat 2011 and realized that Robert Roosen Jacobsen with his boat 602 must be there. I phoned him right away but learned he just arrived today in Amsterdam, with my sextant he borrowed from me for the second year now. No Sevenstar logo’s anymore to be seen? Right after I boarded his boat -just for the photograph- the guard came running to me explaining me I was trespassing.
Visiting 602 without permission…
Salvador is really looking like a very old but at the same time very poor city. The weather is nice and the people seem extreemely friendly.
…visiting the consulate of The Netherlands
Urs and I spent the rest of the day to relax, still being tired as a result of our ocean crossing.
Old soldiers never die, but old soldiers get older every day.
Tomorrow we will fly to Rio de Janeiro.

Take care,
Julia
